17th
annual Women’s Conference March 21 Dakota State University will sponsor the 17th annual Women’s Day Conference on March 21. This year’s theme is “Women Sustaining the American Spirit.” The first Women's Day Conference started in 1986 when a group of DSU faculty and staff came together to present a conference on women's issues as part of the diversity activities for DSU. The conference has continued during the month of March, which is National Women's History Month. The planning committee for the conference this year consists of DSU faculty members Vicki Sterling, Linda Venekamp, Nancy Moose, Lynn Ryan, and Lynette Molstad. “This conference continues to serves as an important part of the diversity activities that take place on the campus, said Molstad. “Diversity has become an important part of the campus life at DSU.” The following is the schedule for the conference: 11:30am Luncheon with Kathleen Taylor
Taylor is an author of mystery books featuring small town
waitress 'Tory Bauer'. She
has lived her entire life in South Dakota. Her book titles are
‘The Hotel SD’, ‘Funeral Food’, ‘Mourning Shift’,
‘Cold Front’, ‘Foreign Body’, and ‘Sex and
Salmonella’. Fiegen is the President of Junior Achievement of South Dakota, which involves putting business volunteers in classrooms to teach about free enterprise. Fiegen recently completed her 8th year as a state representative from District 11 in Sioux Falls. She has an MBA from the University of South Dakota and has two children. She is married to Tim Fiegen, who serves as a faculty member at DSU.
