Henning signs Middle Hitter

Dakota State University volleyball coach, Cynthia Henning, announces the signing of Micah Tolzin, to the Trojan volleyball squad.

Tolzin is a 6’0, middle hitter from Sioux Falls Washington High School. She graduated in 2001. During her high school playing career she was a two-time All-State selection, two-time All-Conference selection, two-time most improved player award winner, a Will to Win Athlete, an outstanding Female Athlete and All-City.

“Micah is a very sound volleyball player. She has all the fundamentals down and we expect her to step in and challenge for a starting position right away,” said Henning. “She will be a great asset to our program with her ability to anticipate and move quickly to close the block. She has great penetration in her blocking skills. As a hitter she is very smart and sees the opposing team’s block well.”

Tolzin has taken a year off from the volleyball court, but Henning believes that has helped her in her development.

“I think the year off that she had has been a benefit to her as she has realized how much she truly loves the sport of volleyball and how much she wants to continue playing volleyball at a very competitive level,” Henning surmized. “I’m very excited that Micah has chosen to come to DSU. She is a hard worker and eager to understand and develop her volleyball skills further.”

Tolzin was also selected to play on the South Dakota All-Stars Volleyball Team.
