Kern’s establish second largest Athletic
Endowment
The Dakota State University Athletic Department recently received a $38,000 donation from California resident Dan Kern, for the Leslie Grayson Kern Memorial Endowment, the second largest gift to the athletic department, ever. Brian Kern, brother of Dan, established the scholarship endowment two years ago in memory of his late wife. Kern, along with Don Grayson of Rosebud Manufacturing, recently purchased an original John Green print for $4,700 at the Dakota State University Gala fundraiser. Proceeds from that purchase will be directed toward the Leslie Grayson Kern Memorial Endowment. “One of the athletic department’s goals is to increase scholarships,” said Athletic Director, Dr. Tom Gioglio. “With the kindness of these two gentlemen, among many others we have been able to do just that.” The Leslie Grayson Kern Memorial Endowment awards go to returning or incoming students-athletes who plan to play football at Dakota State. Together, both Dan and Brian Kern have donated approximately $50,000 for the endowment. |
