Dakota State professors to present at ISECON
Two Dakota State University professors from the College of Business and Information Systems will be presenting a paper at the Information Systems Education Conference (ISECON) in San Antonio, TX from November 1-3. Tom Farrell and Wayne Pauli will present the paper: “Bringing Your Distance Class to Your Student’s Desktop.” The paper deals with the distance delivery of a course, allowing remote students to be able to view and participate from their desktop as a class is happening. The paper details the strategies, hardware, software and student computing requirements needed to be able to participate in either live Internet delivery of a class or an encoded archived version. Also attending ISECON are Dakota State seniors Jordan Widstrom of Hecla and Chris Thames of Lake City and recent DSU graduate Chris Ortman. They will be presenting a student/faculty paper with Farrell entitled: “OACIS – Online Academic Course Information System.” Their paper presents information on a student built online academic course information system that allows students to view grades and take exams for their courses from a portal. The paper also details how faculty who choose to use the system will be able to automate their test administration, quizzes and assignments. Close to 140 participate will be at the three day conference sponsored by the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP). This is the 10th ISECON that Farrell has participated in and the first for Pauli. |
