New era opens on the road for 2002 Trojans
(Madison, SD)-- The Dakota State University football Trojans have established a season opening game for the 2002 season. The Trojans will travel to Minneapolis to face Division III opponent, Augsburg College (Auggies) of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. “We have had numerous opportunities to play other teams,” said Trojan head football coach, Gene Wockenfuss. “We feel this is the best fitted opponent for what we want to accomplish as far as competition level. It’s a great recruiting opportunity for us as well.” The game will be played on the Auggies home turf, Anderson-Nelson Field, on September 7, 2002 at 1pm. The contract is set up so that Augsburg will travel here to play the Trojans in 2003.
Augsburg is a private, four year co-educational liberal
arts college located in Minneapolis, MN and is situated on
approximately ten city blocks in the heart of the metropolitan
area. With the away game the Trojans will open the season with two games on the road and then open the season at home on September 21, 2002 against Dickinson State at 1:30pm. |
