to host AP English Vertical Teams Institute Dakota State University will be host of the AP English Vertical Teams Institute July 22-27. The institute is designed for practicing Language Arts teachers of grades 6-12, administrators and undergraduate professors. Dakota State University associate professor of liberal arts, Nancy Moose is coordinating the event and will also attend. “I’m looking forward to it,” says Moose. “It’s especially helpful to me. It gives me ideas on what I need to be doing with the English teaching program.” Moose will be doing some of the teaching for the institute and will be a confirmation person. Most of the teaching will be done in computer labs. The program is geared toward teaching teachers to design a curriculum for students as early as possible and working that curriculum throughout the student’s career. Stephen Heller, Ph.D. from Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois will lead the Institute. He currently teaches Freshman Accelerated English and Senior Elective Writing for College. He has been a consultant for the College Board for two years and has worked at Northwestern University’s Center for Talent Development, sponsored in part by the Midwest Talent Search. If you would like more information about the institute contact Nancy Moose at (605) 256-5269 or email her at nancy.moose@dsu.edu |
