DSU Theatre department to perform The Dakota State University Theatre will be presenting a November children’s musical, “No One Will Marry a Princess With a Tree Growing Out of Her Head,” By Michael Elliot Brill and David Jackson. The performance dates will be November 8-10 at 7:30pm in the Dakota Prairie Playhouse. Admission is $3 or free with a valid student ID. ““No One Will Marry A Princess With a Tree Growing Out of Her Head” is an imaginative and entertaining fairytale with a lot of humor, mystery, music and song, well-drawn characters--and of course a happy ending,” said Susan Conover, DSU director of theatre. “It is a delightful show for the whole family.” It concerns the plight of a princess, played by sophomore Tracy Steed, a marketing major from Kingman, AZ, who has just turned 21 and is about to start the process of finding a prince when a tree starts growing out of her head, the work of an evil wizard in the neighborhood named Wartstitch, played by junior Bob Davidson, a business for information systems major from Kadoka. There is also a good wizard, Gimlet, played by sophomore Dan Iverson, a computer information systems major from Watertown and his friends the South Wind, played by senior Mary Gerhardt, a computer science major from Blaine, MN; the North wind, played by senior Matt Gappa, a elementary education major from Nicollet, MN; The East Wind, played by freshman Amy Horter, a computer science major from Bristol and the West wind played by junior Matt Wilson, a information systems major from Beresford. Also in the play is the King, played by freshman John McClaren from Sioux Falls; the Narrator, junior Nicole Bockelmann, a elementary education major from Volga; Lord #1 and Lord Chancellor played by sophomore Brian Lebrun, an English major from Dell Rapids; Lord #2 and Prime Minister played by freshman Chris Ahrendt, a computer science major from Renner; Lady #1 played by junior Amanda Johnson, a business major from Lake Preston; and Lady #2 played by sophomore Jacque Miller, a health information management major from Hartford.
