Dakota State Highlighted at
Daschle Technology Summit
Madison, SD --
Seven Dakota State University students were highlighted at the South Dakota
Technology Summit held on April 9th at the Washington Pavilion in
Sioux Falls. The Technology Summit
was sponsored by Senator Tom Daschle and brought over 1,000 technology industry
leaders to the city. Keynote
speaker was Robert Pittman, AOL-Time Warner co-CEO. Jeff Taylor, founder of
monster.com also spoke at the summit.
“We were very excited to be a part of the first
Technology Summit. To be asked to
be involved in such a high-profile event for South Dakota is a testament to the
importance of Dakota State University,” said Dr. Jerald Tunheim, President of
DSU.
The DSU students were part of a four-minute video which
showcased information technology education careers and the choices each student
has made. The seven students were
Jon Grann, a senior from Carpenter; Carmen Pendley, a senior from Watertown;
Nadene Bamberg, a senior from Corsica; Brianne Keating, a senior from Iroquois;
Todd Zirbel, a senior from South Shore; Chris Kreul, a senior from Colman; and
Chris Thames, a sophomore from Lake City.
Dr. Tunheim was also a guest speaker at the Summit.
In an hour long break-out session, he and Jeff Taylor spoke to the
audience about the roles of technology and education in the future.
