Professor to present paper on Online teachingDan Talley, assistant professor for the College of Business and Information Systems will present his paper “Taking Principles Online: Successful Strategies for Internet Delivery” at the Midwest Economic Association annual meetings on the subject of teaching economics using technology on March 29. “This paper discusses my experiences teaching the first online principles of economics course offered by Dakota State University in the summer of 2000,” said Talley. “I am optimistic it will receive a warm reception at the conference and once again have the honor to have a respected economist in my area as the discussant.” The discussant will be Dr. Robert Parks of Washington University St. Louis. Dr. Kim Sosin of the University of Nebraska Lincoln, a leading researcher in the area of economics education, particularly in assessing the impact of the Internet on teaching and learning will chair the session. She is also the editor of the online edition of the Journal of Economics Education. “It is an honor to have received this invitation,” said Talley. “If this presentation is well-received, it could lead to eventual publication of my research on the impact of technology on economics education in the JEE, the leading economics journal in this area.” |
