Dakota State University is offering a unique three-day seminar “Violence in the Work Place: Psyche of Terror, and How We Deal With Trauma.” The seminar will be presented by Hand to Hand Combat Tactician and Chief Aikido Instructor John C. Goss is an Executive Protection Consultant as well as, an Assistant Professor at Towson University, Maryland in the Health and Wellness Department.

The Seminar is planned for Dec. 4-6, 2001. Group sessions are from 6:30-8:30pm at the Madison Community Center. Topics include: work space & school safety, hands on self defense applications, rape/date-rape defense, psychosis of terror, understanding the human predator, law enforcement scenarios and procedures, and critical response teams-what we need to know to be effective professionals.

“In the past several years, unbridled violence has begun to consume our society, we as an institution of higher learning must have a plan in order to know how to best serve our students” said DSU Diversity Director Scott Zlotak. “I look forward to having Goss Sensei come to DSU and the Greater Madison Community to offer his expertise in critical response and safety awareness.”

Goss Sensei is a Certified Executive Protection and Rape Crisis self-defense instructor. He has taught for the Baltimore County Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Centers, Baltimore City, County and the Maryland State Police S.W.A.T. Units.  He has worked on various Critical Response Programs for various colleges and universities in the Baltimore and Washington DC area. He has received special security clearances as a certified instructor for the United States Department of Defense, the United States Department of Justice, and the Criminal Investigation Department of the US Army. In addition to his many accomplishments, awards and honors, Goss Sensei has developed the single most effective urban self-defense program offered today, AIKI-TE SELF-DEFENSE.

There will be three open times for all participants and there are two available time slots for your business to get specialized training for specific areas of concern, said Zlotak. Donations will be accepted.
