DSU invited to PeopleSoft Academic Advisory Council

Dakota State University has been invited to become a member of PeopleSoft’s Academic Advisory Council. The Academic Advisory Council works to ensure that the On Campus Program meets the needs of the university academic community i.e., curriculum and training.

“PeopleSoft is very impressed with what we’ve done with their application without any support,” said DSU Assistant professor of Business for Information Systems, John Webster. “They’re looking to us to answer questions any other On Campus schools have.”

Currently, there are eleven members on the Academic Advisory Council. Dakota State will make the 12th member. The next scheduled meeting of the Council will be February, 2001.

“These types of partnerships are very important to Dakota State so we can provide the communications that allow our curriculum to be at the leading edge of technology,” said DSU president Dr. Jerald Tunheim. “This means Dakota State is involved in the discussions of the latest technology and the directions that technology will be taking.”

Mark Conway, the On Campus Director has asked DSU to prepare a workshop for the meeting that would outline the trials and tribulations of migrating to the Internet version on their application. DSU is also working out the details for developing a frequently asked questions (FAQ), covering similar material for distribution to current and future On Campus schools.

“I believe that this invitation is further validation of our school’s ability to compete on a national and international basis in the arena of IT,” said Webster. “It further demonstrates our school’s commitment to providing our students with the best possible tools and education available today. DSU has once again taken the lead in being the first school to deliver this application on the web, using a UNIX platform. Everyone who has worked to develop this program and to support what is being done deserves a thank you.”
