Krueger Scholarship Program created at DSU

Madison, SD -- The Dakota State University Foundation announces the Fredrick H. Krueger scholarship program.   Fredrick (Fritz) Krueger, a long time Madison area resident, has established a scholarship program designed to help students from Madison and Lake County as well as the surrounding counties of Brookings, McCook, Miner, Minnehaha, Moody, and Kingsbury. The funds Mr. Krueger has dedicated assures that the Krueger Scholarships will be the second largest scholarship program in university history.

“Fritz came to us a few weeks ago with some information about how he would like to begin a scholarship program,” stated Dr. Jerald Tunheim, President of Dakota State University.  “We were very pleased not only with his statement of generosity, but with the magnitude of the gift that will permit this scholarship program to become the preeminent academic scholarship program at Dakota State University.”

Krueger Scholarships will be renewable scholarships awarded generally to incoming freshmen.  To retain this scholarship for the four years, students will be required to maintain at least a 3.40 grade point average.

“Fritz Krueger is an academic and an intellectual in every meaning of the term,” added Tunheim.  “He loves the acquisition and the application of knowledge to life and business situations.  This scholarship is intended to help Dakota State University attract the best and brightest students from this area to this university to pursue their dreams.”

“We are extremely thankful that Fritz Krueger has been willing to extend his generosity to help students attend Dakota State University,” stated Mark Lee, Vice President for Administration and University Advancement. “The work of people like Fritz, and his brother George, to advance this university is work of the highest order.  Both of these gentlemen care deeply for this community, its citizenry and for this university.”
