Three
DSU faculty to present at ICALT 2001 Three Dakota State University Education faculty have had papers accepted for the International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies (ICALT 2001) held in Madison, WI on August 6-8. Haomin Wang, Mark Hawkes and Dan Coldeway will each present papers in full text at the conference. Wang’s paper “Effective Use of WebBoard for Distance Learning” discusses the use of WebBoard as an asynchronous communication tool for distance learning. Coldeway’s paper, “The Success of Advanced Learning Technologies for Instruction: Research and Evaluation of Human Factors Issues” deals with the human factors issue in the use of technology for instruction and learning. Hawkes paper, “An Analysis of Critically Reflective Teacher Dialogue” was also accepted. “What’s particularly exciting is that all three of us had our papers accepted,” said Wang. “I feel it reflects the general academic strength of the graduate faculty in the College of Education here at DSU.” “I’m pleased my paper was accepted,” said Coldeway. “The data for my paper is somewhat difficult to present given recent changes in the use of human subjects for research. This paper is a combined pierce of scholarship, evaluation information, and research.” ICALT 2001 brings together researchers, academics and industry practitioners who are involved or interested in the design and development of advanced and emerging learning technologies. Understanding of the challenges faced in providing technology tools to support learning process and ease the creation of instruction material will help build a direction for further research and implementation work. |
