State University announces hiring of Smith and Fowle
Madison
– Dakota State University officials today announced that the positions of Vice
President for University Advancement and Vice President for Business and
Administrative Services have been filled.
Rick
Smith will begin his duties as Vice President for University Advancement on
January 1, 2002. Mr. Smith is
currently the Senior Director of Development for the College of Engineering at
Mississippi State University, a position he has held since 1990.
From 1981-89, he served as a special assistant to the administrator for
the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in Washington, DC.
He has bachelor’s degrees in economics and business from Bethel College
in Arden Hills, Minnesota.
Marilyn
Fowlé (pronounced Fō-lay) has accepted the position of Vice President for
Business and Administrative Services, effective January 15, 2002. Ms. Fowlé
currently serves as Executive Assistant to the CEO at Texas A&M University
at Galveston. Her duties have
included working with legislative and government officials, serving as part of
the senior management team responsible for the university’s strategic and
financial planning, and developing opportunities for external funding sources.
In prior positions at both Texas A&M and at the University of
Houston, she had oversight responsibilities for the physical plant and for
computing services. Ms. Fowlé
earned her MBA at Rice University and her BBA in Management at the University of
Houston-Clear Lake. “I am very excited about the expertise these two individuals will bring to campus and look forward to welcoming them to the campus and community,” said Dr. Jerald Tunheim, president of Dakota State University. |
