Schmidt promoted to Director of Planned and Major Gifts The Dakota State University Advancement Office has announced the promotion of Alumni director, Jona Schmidt to Director of Planned and Major Gifts. Schmidt has been with DSU for the past five years and looks forward to continuing on with Dakota State. “I’m excited to accept the challenge of this new position,” said Schmidt. As director of planned and major gifts, Schmidt will be responsible for Dakota State’s major gift development, including donor research, structuring planned gift instruments, and communicating and working with donors on a regular basis. To do this Schmidt will become a regular traveler throughout the United States. Recent reorganization of the DSU Advancement Office has included the naming of Mark Lee to Vice President of Administration and University Advancement. Lee will closely supervise the fundraising operations conducted by Schmidt and other development staff. “Jona’s experience at Dakota State and her accomplishments as Director of Alumni and Annual Giving will help her be successful in this new opportunity. I’m pleased she is willing to continue to dedicate her talents to DSU in this new role,” said Mark Lee, Vice President for Administration and University Advancement. An Alumni Director to fill Schmidt’s vacated post, and a research assistant will also being hired. “Dakota State is doing tremendously academically,” said Schmidt. “Where we have fallen behind is in our fundraising activities. My goal will be to create and sustain relationships with donors and to provide opportunities for those donors, as well as other alumni and friends, to give to Dakota State University.” |
