Bundy Named Director of Student Development (MADISON, SD)- Keith Bundy has been named the Dakota State University Director of Student Development. Keith comes to DSU from the South Dakota Rehabilitation Center for the Blind in Sioux Falls, where he was a Personal Adjustment Counselor and Coordinator. Bundy started his duties on August 24 and says things have been going excellent and he feels he’s a good fit for the position. “With my varied experiences, I’ve come to know a wide range of people,” said Bundy. “I’m able to see both sides of the picture and know what it’s like to have special needs.” Bundy knows about special needs because he is blind and has worked hard at putting himself where he is today, serving in such capacities as an instructor, a braillist, a pastor and counselor. He is a skilled public speaker, has strong skills in counseling and has instructed at the high school, college and adult levels. Bundy holds a BS in Psychology from the University of Evansville in Indiana, a BA in Philosophy and Religion from Indiana Wesleyan University and a MS in College Student Personnel Work with an emphasis in counseling and working with disabled students from Indiana State University. While at Dakota State Bundy will serve primarily as a counselor, but will also be joining the classroom, and teaching a freshman success seminar next year. So far this year, his office has had a steady flow of students, which he says will pick up when those students on academic probation schedule appointments to see him. Because students who are on academic probation are required to see Bundy, he hopes to change the image associated with his office. He wants the student development office to be a place students want to come to for help and not a place they have to come to. “We’re making progress,” he said. “We’re not known for what we do. I want to change that.” Bundy also hopes to put the Office of Student Development on-line for those students who take on-line courses and don’t have a chance to take advantage of the benefits his office offers. “I hope to put this office on-line. It would be a good change. I hope to set up a chat-room and get those students who might not come in otherwise.” Bundy said. --30— DSU Information Office |
