Begeman Resigns as Head Golf Coach at DSU

The Dakota State University Athletic department has announced the resignation of head golf coach, Tim Begeman. The resignation was made official Friday, October 13.

“Tim will be missed at Dakota State,” said DSU athletic director, Dr. Tom Gioglio. “He brought golf from an intramural sport to a very competitive varsity sport here at DSU.”

“It was hard to make the decision,” said Begeman. “There have been a good group of kids for quite a long time, but it’s more than just coaching now. There are more requirements involved of a coach now than when I started and I couldn’t devote the necessary time it took to complete those duties.”

Begeman had been DSU’s head golf coach for the last seven years. He took the golf program from a club sport to an intercollegiate recognized sport. In his seven years at Dakota state his team qualified for national competition once and had individual team members qualify once as well.

In the future, Begeman wants to see the golf team continually improve and remain competitive. He also supports Dakota State in its venture to start a Women’s golf program.

Begeman will continue his duties at his local business, The Insurance and Real Estate Market in Madison.
