Guide to Research for Health
Information Management Courses
This guide leads to information sources
available online or in the Mundt Library that are edited or
refereed in order to assure quality. Your local library may have
the same or similar resources. Currently enrolled Dakota State University
students and faculty and staff are encouraged to ask a
librarian for help in searching for
and finding information and to ask the Mundt Library to get
material for them that is not available online by requesting an Interlibrary Loan.
Access
to some resources, when off-campus, requires login using
your Mundt Library ID number. If you are a DSU student and do not
know your library ID number, please request it from the library by emailing your
request to ask a
librarian.
Evaluate information
carefully. Do be careful to use high quality, reliable medical
information.
To learn about finding reliable health information, see
Evaluating Health Information, provided by the National Library of Medicine
and the National Institutes of Health. Additional
sources of help include: JAMA
Patient Page: Health Information on the Internet (American Medical
Association, May, 2001) and the
Health
on the Net Foundation honor code principles.
