WorldCat for info & access.
OCLC Firstsearch is a subscription
database service with access restricted to Dakota State University students,
faculty and staff.
Firstsearch provides access to about 40 databases that lead to journal articles and other
information. Some databases provide full articles, but
most provide citations and abstracts only. To find out what databases
are available, connect to Firstsearch and then click on
"Databases--List All" or on "Databases--List by
Topic."

The Mundt Library pays about
95 cents each time you click on a Search button in Firstsearch. We encourage you to
use Firstsearch databases when you need them but also ask that you not waste
searches.
- For help in deciding
whether to use a Firstsearch database, please ask a
librarian.
$$
The Mundt Library pays about
$4.75 each time
someone uses a fulltext link to get the
full text of an article in Firstsearch, so we password-protect the fulltext
link.
-
Dakota
State University students and staff can
ask a
librarian
for the fulltext password. But before
using it, please check our
journal
list to make sure the journal or magazine (in which the article is
located) isn’t available in another database or in print in the library.
The link to our journal list is located at:
http://www.departments.dsu.edu/library/Journals/intro.htm.
-
If the journal list
indicates that we have the journal in another database or in print,
but you can’t figure out how to find it, just ask
a librarian for help
and we’ll find it for you.
Please use OCLC
Firstsearch
responsibly by learning how to search effectively -- read and use the
search
tips. Thank you!!

If you are off-campus,
you will be required to login with a username and password.
- The username is your
14-digit library ID number. The library ID numbers for DSU students,
faculty, and staff all begin with the numbers
21578.... (for example:
21578000000000). You can find this number on the front
of your DSU ID card. Distance students,
who do not have ID cards, will receive this
library ID number (not a card) from the Office of E-Education
Services. If you do not know your library ID number, please contact
the library.
- The password is your last name (for example, smith).
If you are unable to login with
your ID and password, please contact
the library.
