Proquest is an information service that provides
several databases that index magazine and journal articles and provide the
full-text
of many of the articles online.
Proquest's databases for
college-level students are:
a. Research Library
-- an index to magazine, journal & newspaper articles on a
broad range of subjects. Note that you may search portions of
Research Library separately: Newspapers is an index to articles in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA TODAY and
Barron's and Journals is an index to articles that
appear in magazines and journals on a wide range of topics including the
arts, business, humanities, health, social sciences, sciences.
b. ProQuest Computing
an index to top computing magazines and journals for current information on subjects such as database design, software
development, web commerce, LANs, WANs, Intranets, the Internet.
c. ProQuest Education Periodicals
an index to more than 550 titles on education--including primary, secondary, and university-level topics--with nearly 300 in full text. Includes the indexing and abstracts from
H.W. Wilson's Education Abstracts, plus many additional titles.
d. Reference
provides reference works (not journal articles) and includes the following full-text (no
pictures) reference books: Ethnic Cultures of America, Occupational Outlook
Handbook, World Book Encyclopedia, and World Factbook.
