An ID and password are not required on-campus. When accessing Infotrac from off-campus, an ID and password will be requested when you attempt to connect to it. You will then need to use your Library ID and password (which are different from a DSU computer ID and password).
If you have a Dakota State University student, faculty or staff ID card, or a guest borrower library card from the Mundt Library, you will find your library ID number (a number which begins 21578...) on the front of the card. Your password is your last name. If you are taking a course through the Office of Distance Education or some other department on campus, you should have been issued a Library ID number (a number which begins 21578...). The password will be your last name. Distance Education students who have not been issued a Library ID number should contact DSU's Office of Distance Education. Students in Sioux Falls usually get their library ID numbers from their instructors. If you have not received a library ID number, e-mail reference@dsu.edu or linda.merkwan@dsu.edu to request it [and include your full name, address, and the course(s) you are currently enrolled in].
In order for the ID and password to work, they must be loaded in the library system. The Library usually does this automatically for all registered students. If you are unable to login, ask us to check if your ID is loaded in the library system and is working by sending an e-mail to linda.merkwan@dsu.edu or reference@dsu.edu that includes your name, Library ID number, local address, permanent address, and telephone number.
1. On the Library homepage -- http://www.departments.dsu.edu/library/ -- click on the "InfoTrac" link (found in the yellow "Search Tools" section). 2. Connect to the Infotrac database you want by clicking on it in the "Search Infotrac" section near the top of the screen. 3. If requested, enter your ID
and password. Type the 14-digit ID number in the top box and type the password in the lower box. |
