  • Authorization and Password

An authorization number and password are required for remote access from off-campus. The authorization number and password are different from your Library ID/password and from your DSU computer ID/password.

Instructions for obtaining your authorization are provided later in Module 7.

  • Connecting to Firstsearch

1. On the Library homepage -- http://www.departments.dsu.edu/library/ -- click on the "OCLC Firstsearch" link (found in the list of "Shortcuts to Search Tools" on the left side of the screen ).

2. Click on the link to "Connect to Firstsearch"

3. Type in the authorization number in its box.

4. Type in the password in its box.

5. Click on the Start button.

  • Logging off of Firstsearch

To get out of Firstsearch,

1. Click on the Exit button.
2. Then, click on the Yes button.
