This Agency is the direct creation of the Smith-Mundt Act of 1948(Public Law 402 of 80th Congress) whose objective is to disseminate information abroad about the United States.
Voice of America radio broadcasts, World Wide Broadcasting System, International Cooperation administration, Bureau of Customs, and House Committee on Government Operations are represented. Famous people relating to this series are John Chancellor, Edward R. Murrow, Harold E. Stassen, Ali Amini, George V. Allen, and Leonard Marks. Senator Mundt maintained a scrutinizing interest in this Agency.
