RG III Legislation - Agriculture Committee 1948-1949
1 Hollinger box (#326)

Senator Mundt was a member of this Committee and then later served on Agriculture and Forestry Committee from 1949-1963. Mundt's first speech on the floor of the House on March 25, 1939 was entitled Cost of "Production for Agriculture". He coveted a position on the Agriculture Committee but was denied this throughout the Roosevelt and Truman Administrations. Mundt's biography 'A Fair Chance for a Free People' by Scott Heidepriem has an extensive report of his work in Agriculture in Chapter 11, "Agriculture and Water Development".
