Module 3> Library Catalog: Searching

Library Catalog: Basic Search

How do you search for items in the catalog? The library catalog lets you search by Keyword (Word/s anywhere), Author, Title, Subject (Module 2 discussed keyword and subject searching) and Call number. Below are two images of the Library Catalog's Basic Search screen. You will notice;

Choose type of search pull-down menu (open in the image below) - which lists the type of searches you may perform. Select one of these options (the examples under the text box will change),

Text Box (center of page) - enter your terms in this box (examples below this box will help you to enter your terms properly),

Advanced Search (top-center of page) - this provides more options and text box for searching,

Limit Search button (right side of page) - selecting this button provides four limiting options (Format -- e.g. book, sound recording --, Language, Year and Collection -- e.g. Main, Reference --) for your search. The second image below provides a view of the Basic Search screen with the Limit Search options.
