POLICY
IThe financial ability to
obtain needed health care services is important to both the individual
student and to the maintenance of a healthy learning environment at
Dakota State University. Medical cost coverage from other countries
typically either does not apply to medical expenses incurred within the
United States or the coverage is inadequate to meet the relatively
higher costs for medical treatment in the United States.
As a condition of acceptance to Dakota State University, all
international students with F-1 and J-1 visas (and any dependents who
would be living with them in the United States) are required to be
enrolled in the Student Accident and Sickness Insurance Plan designed
for students of Dakota State University. The student must maintain this
coverage as long as he/she is enrolled at Dakota State University.
PROCEDURES
Dakota State University’s Admissions Office will provide student health
insurance information and an explanation of this policy to all
prospective international students. Prior to acceptance, the prospective
international student must complete the enrollment form. Payment of
insurance premium is due at the time of registration.
Failure on the part of an international student to maintain required
medical insurance coverage will result in administrative suspension from
the University.
