Employee of the Month

   Mike Waldner


1. Briefly describe the nominee’s job duties.


Manage providing technology/data services to SD k-12 schools.

2. Describe the nominee’s dedication and interest in getting the job done, his/her personaland professional strengths, and the quantity and quality of his/her work.

Mike is respected by SD Secretary of Education Melmer, the state of SD technology department, the k-12 staff, his manager, and other Outreach Services departments.

3. Describe the nominee’s adaptability to circumstances and creative problem solving
ability. Include examples of exceptional and/or significant contributions during the past
12 months.

Mike has led a department that has added clients including a major school district (Rapid City) this fall, and on 10/28 successfully hosted the SDSTE (k-12 technology specialists) conference We had about 70 school districts represented and around 30 corporate sponsors from various technology companies.

4. Describe the nominee’s ability to interact/work well with others.

Mike has offered assistance to admissions in recruiting students, to faculty in supporting student learning, and has a can-do attitude about helping other departments

5. Describe any special service to fellow employees, the university community or to other individuals, organizations or communities.

In addition to the items in #3 above, Mike was part of the Forward Motion MS 150 team that raised the most funds of any team in this summer's MS 150 bike ride.

6. Are there any other ways in which the nominee has distinguished himself/herself?

Probably but I've only been here for 4 months.
