It's the Information Age! (InfoAge)

HIM career opportunities continue to grow.  Nationally the demand for health information managers exceed the number of qualified professionals.  A study of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed that the market for HIM professionals is expected to grow in numbers by approximately fifty percent with over 47,000 new jobs by the year 2005. In addition, the healthcare information specialist position has been listed in the Annual Career Guide from U.S. News and World Report as one of the Best Jobs for the Future. Health Information Management has also been cited as one of the best career choices for women by three national magazines, Working Women, U.S. News and World Reports, and Essence.

As an HIM graduate of Dakota State University, you will have excellent career opportunities.  The HIM program has a superior reputation locally and nationally.  The students from the DSU HIM Programs have been very successful.  The placement rates have been 100% in several years, with students in a wide range of positions.  Some of the jobs have been in hospitals, clinic and medical offices, long term care facilities, software companies, insurance companies, and consulting companies.
