Available to incoming freshmen with 28 or above ACT composite score and 3.0 cumulative high school GPA. Eligible students awarded upon admission (no application required).

$2,150 per year – 4 yr renewable, must maintain 3.0 GPA and full-time enrollment.

Available to incoming freshmen with 24-27 ACT composite score and 3.0 cumulative high school GPA.  Eligible students awarded upon admission (no application required).

$1,650 per year – 4 yr renewable, must maintain 3.0 GPA and full-time enrollment.

Available to new or continuing students majoring in Math and/or Computer Science.

Award details: 4 year renewable, must maintain 2.75 GPA $2,000 or $3,125 for double major after 2nd year.

Available to students who meet the academic and athletic criteria established by the DSU Athletic Department.

South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship
Available to SD high school graduates with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and composite ACT score of 24, Regents Scholar Curriculum required, SD resident.

Award details: 4 year renewable, $1,000 first three years, $2,000 fourth year.

Dakota Corps Scholarship
Available to SD high school graduates with a minimum 2.8 GPA and composite ACT score of 24. Must agree to work in a critical need occupation in SD.

Full tuition and standard fees up to 16 credits, approximately $5,120 per year.

Graduate Assistantships & Fellowships
Available to qualified graduate students, based on need and/or merit. Tuition rate assessed at 1/3 resident graduate tuition rate for state-supported classes; plus stipend per semester.

National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grant
Available to full-time students who are eligible for a Pell Grant and majoring in physical, life or computer sciences, mathematics, technology, engineering or critical foreign language.

Award amounts: Up to $4,000 for third and fourth year undergraduate, if cumulative GPA is 3.0 or higher in required major coursework.

Available to students with exceptional financial need.

Federal Subsidized Stafford Loan
Available to students who demonstrate financial need.

Maximum amounts per grade level:
Undergraduate: 1 – $3,500, 2 – $4,500, 3 & 4 – $5,500
Graduate: $8,500 yearly, interest fixed 6.8%.

Effective July 1, 2007, applicant needs signed Master Promissory Note following award notification. Student borrower selects lender.

Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loan
Available to students with low or no financial need, to replace a portion of Family Contribution.

Award amounts:
Dependent Undergraduate: Maximun amounts same as subsidized Stafford loan.
Independent & Graduate: eligible for extended unsubsidized by grade level: 1-2 year – $4,000, 3-5 year – $5,000, Graduate – $10,000, not to exceed cost of education. Applicant needs a signed Master Promissory Note following award notification.

Federal PLUS

Federal Work Study (FWS)
Students with exceptional financial need.
DSU 2007-2008 award – $1,885; paid monthly as hours are worked.

FT/PT summer FWS available; complete separate application for summer. Other on and off-campus employment for interested students based upon skill. DSU average off-campus earnings were $2,864 in 2005–06.
