Sue Halsted SimonSue Halsted Simon, originally from Hurley, SD, is a 1968 grad of Dakota State. She majored in Physical Education, and was very active in Women's Recreation Association (WRA), including Track & Field, Basketball, Field Hockey, and Cheerleading. She was also President of the Girls' Athletic Association, and a member of the National Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. Sue was an outstanding athlete, and had women's athletics been NAIA recognized during her years at Dakota State, regional and possibly national recognition would have been hers. Following graduation, Sue taught in Juneau, Alaska, then moved to Wasilla, AK for six years. From 1975 to 1980, she taught in British Columbia, Canada, and has been in the Newcastle, WY, school system since 1980. IN addition to her teaching, Simon has coached track, basketball, cross country, and volleyball, as well as advising the cheerleading. She has also assisted with the HS Rodeo program as a community service. Professionally, Halsted-Simon is a member of the Wyoming Education Association, American Alliance of HPERD, and American Massage Therapy Association. |
