Michael Freidel
Michael Freidel graduated from Dakota State College in 1979 with a double major in Social Science and Physical Education. He received his Master of Science degree from South Dakota State University in Athletic Administration in 1990. He currently is the defensive coordinator for the Augustana College Vikings football team and an assistant professor. Before taking his current position Freidel served as defensive coordinator and instructor at the University of South Dakota. His defense ranked number one in total defense in 1995.
As an athlete Freidel was a free agent for the San Francisco 49ers in 1979, a NAIA football All-American in 1978, All-NAIA District 12 linebacker in 1978, All-Conference in the SDIC in 1977 and 1978. Freidel was part of a Dakota State College defense that was ranked second in the nation, giving up just 42 points in 10 games.
