Debra Boomsma

Debra Boomsma grew up in the Huron, SD area, and graduated from Hitchcock High School in May 1976. She attended Dakota State from 1976 to 1980. She completed her Degree in Business Administration.

Deb played both Basketball and Softball all four years. Neither were recognized NAIA women's sports until her final two season in both. Boomsma was All-SDIC both her Junior and Senior years, and if she had been considered her freshman and sophomore years, she many well have been an All-American, because of her outstanding statistics. The Lady Trojans finished 13-7, and finished 2nd in the AIA W tourney in 1979 Boomsma's Junior season.

During the 1980 Basketball season, they Lady Trojans finished 17-8, and shared the SDIC Title with SD Tech, and Deb Boomsma was named All-Conference, and "Best Offensive Player." Winning a share of the SDIC started quite a dynasty for the Lady T's program in Basketball.

In Softball, Boomsma was named the "Most Valuable Player" for the 1979 season, and was the leading pitcher on the Lady Trojans team. In 1980, Boomsma was named "Best all Around Player" for the Softball and pitched the Lady T's to the National Tournament in Missouri, and an 11-3 overall record.
