CheckList for Online Students
Our goal at Extended Programs is to make your E-Learning
experience a positive one. Please print this checklist as your online
course guide. Contact the Extended Programs office at any time with
questions or concerns.

View available courses. All courses are semester based and correspond with the campus semester schedule. Be sure to note the instructor
of the course you are interested in.
- Visit the
DSU
instructor homepages and click on the instructor name. DSU instructors may teach more than one class. Be sure to click the link of the class you are seeking for the class syllabus, start
date and time, textbook and other required course materials. Contact your instructor with any questions BEFORE the class begins.
- Read the Extended Programs
FAQ list and be sure you
meet the
technical
requirements for
distance education.
- Read the appropriate
student guide to become familiar with our program.
- Complete the
orientation module to determine if you are ready for online learning.
- REGISTER for the class by filling out the secure online
Registration Request Form.
NOTE: If you are registering for multiple alternative delivery courses
from more than one state university, please visit the
Electronic
University Consortium site and register for all courses at once.

Submission of online Registration Request Form does not guarantee your
registration into courses. Registration will depend upon admission
status, course space availability and completion of any course
prerequisites.
- Online courses are delivered via
Desire2Learn(D2L). You will receive notification via e-mail of your
D2L login ID and password information. You will
also be assigned a DSU e-mail account (
WebMail)
and a
Library ID number. If you are unsure of your DSU e-mail account status, please contact us. Unless you provide credit card information when you submit the secure Registration Request Form, you will receive a bill from DSU
for any registered courses.
- Visit the
DSU
Bookstore
online to order your textbooks or call 605.256.5238 or 800.641.4309.
- Visit the
Desire2Learn(D2L) to familiarize yourself with the
D2L online course management system.
- You will receive an e-mail from your instructor at the beginning of
your online class. If you do not hear from the instructor by the second
day of class, please contact the office of Extended Programs. The delivery method for
class materials may vary from class to class and instructor to
instructor. Deadlines and due dates apply to distance education courses.
