CheckList for Online Students

Our goal at Extended Programs is to make your E-Learning experience a positive one. Please print this checklist as your online course guide. Contact the Extended Programs office at any time with questions or concerns.

- View available courses. All courses are semester based and correspond with the campus semester schedule. Be sure to note the instructor of the course you are interested in.

- Visit the DSU instructor homepages and click on the instructor name. DSU instructors may teach more than one class. Be sure to click the link of the class you are seeking for the class syllabus, start date and time, textbook and other required course materials. Contact your instructor with any questions BEFORE the class begins.

- Read the Extended Programs FAQ list and be sure you meet the technical requirements for distance education.

- Read the appropriate student guide to become familiar with our program.

- Complete the orientation module to determine if you are ready for online learning.

- REGISTER for the class by filling out the secure online Registration Request Form.

NOTE: If you are registering for multiple alternative delivery courses from more than one state university, please visit the Electronic University Consortium site and register for all courses at once.
Disclaimer: Submission of online Registration Request Form does not guarantee your registration into courses. Registration will depend upon admission status, course space availability and completion of any course prerequisites.

- Online courses are delivered via Desire2Learn(D2L). You will receive notification via e-mail of your D2L login ID and password information. You will also be assigned a DSU e-mail account (WebMail) and a Library ID number. If you are unsure of your DSU e-mail account status, please contact us. Unless you provide credit card information when you submit the secure Registration Request Form, you will receive a bill from DSU for any registered courses.

- Visit the DSU Bookstore online to order your textbooks or call 605.256.5238 or 800.641.4309.

- Visit the Desire2Learn(D2L) to familiarize yourself with the D2L online course management system.

- You will receive an e-mail from your instructor at the beginning of your online class. If you do not hear from the instructor by the second day of class, please contact the office of Extended Programs. The delivery method for class materials may vary from class to class and instructor to instructor. Deadlines and due dates apply to distance education courses.

If you have questions regarding courses, delivery, or other matters contact DSU Extended Programs at dsuinfo@dsu.edu or by phone at 605.256.5049 or 800.641.4309. Contact our office before the semester begins if you are unsure of the status of your registration request.
