___X____  Change in Instructional Method  R Lecture & L Laboratry to A Studio/Small Group/

                                                                                                                       Small Ensemble_

Justification for all changes noted above:

Skills Concepts (and co-requisite lab) requires extensive individualized faculty-teacher candidate instructional time as well as frequent time in the public schools within the class time-frame. Out of respect for the learning environment of the public school students, time in the public schools as an entire class necessitates a small class.  According to public school PE faculty curriculum needs, the faculty member and teacher candidate collaborate to create full forty-five minute lessons to implement with secondary level students that are videotaped for analysis.  The analysis includes both the teacher-candidate’s instructional and managerial knowledge, skills, and dispositions and the learner’s responses coded by a single copy of the Physical Education Teacher Assessment Instrument.  During the lessons taught, the other teacher candidates analyze teaching and management skills, communication, and behavior management practices;  the class then reflects and discusses.  Effectiveness of this process requires smaller numbers to ensure highest quality teacher preparation.
