8.  EXPLANATION OF THE CHANGE: Recent changes to the NCATE standards require that programs reflect national standards established by the disciplines; the above change represents the standards set by NCTE, with new requirements for courses in technology and young adult literature. These requirements have reduced the number of elective credits for English Education students, but this is consistent with program requirements in other Education programs.
