Finance Major

.

Finance

Program Description:

Finance is usually considered to be composed of three major areas: financial management, markets and institutions, and investments. The vast majority of people in finance work in financial management, since every business must manage its finances. But the Finance Major at DSU covers all three of the areas. All business students take the Financial Management course and that course is a prerequisite for the advanced finance courses: Markets and Institutions, Commercial Bank Financial Management, Investments, and Financial Futures and Options. These finance courses are strongly supported by courses in accounting, economics, statistics, and other business courses. Web technology is thoroughly integrated into the instruction in the finance program, and quantitative financial analysis using spreadsheets is a common feature of the courses.
