The Computing and Information Sciences group here at Dakota State University offer a variety of programs. Dakota State is unique in the broad choice of courses and majors it offers related to computing and information. (see complete list) Students have the opportunity to take electives in related computing and information programs to meet their individual interests. For example, a student majoring in Computer and Networking Security may choose to take extra courses in Computer Science or a Computer Science student may choose to take some courses in Computer Information Systems. There are also minors within the computing areas, so a student might choose to earn a Computer Science degree with a minor in Security. Because of the broad offerings of computing programs within BIS, a diverse faculty with expertise in several computing areas will be available to students.
Majors may also choose to double major or minor in other programs offered at DSU. A popular double major is Computer Science and Mathematics. There are degrees such as Management of Information Systems for those most interested in business, Digital Arts and Design for those interested in arts and humanities, as well hard science degrees with significant computing components.
