Office Management (AS)
The program will permit one to seek employment ranging from clerical to supervisory positions. Employment of information processing personnel is expected to increase faster than the average for all occupations through the 1990’s as the continued expansion of business and government creates a growing volume of paperwork.
Graduates will:
- understand business topics of accounting systems, finance, economics, management, marketing and production integrated with computer skills.
- understand word processing, personal computing.
- will understand electronic mail, electronic filing and retrieval.
- learn interpersonal relations and communication skills.
Jobs & Degrees
Billing Assistant: Reviews and calculates payments. Maintains all payment
records. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within
a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform
the functions of the job.
Business Office Manager: Responsible for the direction and coordination of
several business office operations. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and
accomplish goals.
Data Entry Supervisor: Supervises the daily activities of data entry operators.
Can operate a data entry device to record or verify a variety of standard and/or
complex coded or uncoded business and statistical source data into a computer. Familiar
with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience
and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
May direct and lead the work of others.
Executive Secretary: Relieves the executive of administrative type functions
in order to increase the time an executive has available for executive level responsibilities.
May handle a wide variety of situations and conflicts involving the clerical and
administrative function of the office. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts,
practices, and procedures. May direct and lead the work of others.

The Associate of Science in Office Management is accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business School and Programs (ACBSP).
Graduates of the Office Management program will be educated in word processing, personal computing, electronic mail, electronic filing and retrieval. Modern up-to-date equipment provides the student with state-of-the-art office technology. Study relating to information technology, interpersonal relations and communications are stressed to make the student knowledgeable and adaptable - willing to accept and respond to change.
The Associate of Science degree in Office Management will permit one to seek employment ranging from clerical to supervisory positions.
