Chantelle Casper, Erica Gall, Amanda Schoenfelder, and Sarah Steffl,
have signed to play for the Dakota State University volleyball team,
head coach Cynthia Henning has announced. The Trojans recruiting class
of 2006 is beginning to take shape and Coach Henning is quite happy with
the quality of athletes they are bringing into the program.
Chantelle
Casper is a 5'10" middle hitter from Lake Preston, South Dakota.
Casper is a two sport athlete for the Divers of Lake Preston competing
in volleyball, basketball, and track. "Chantelle is a good fit
for our program," coach Cynthia Henning
stated, "she is a very hard
working athlete and we are very excited that Chantelle will be a part of
our program in 2006." During her
high school career, Casper was an
integral part of both the volleyball and
basketball programs at Lake Preston and helped lead
the 2006 basketball team to the state
tournament. Casper was a team captain for the
Divers and was a three year letter winner in volleyball; she also was
selected to the All-Conference team her senior year. Casper was
the receipient of the Women in Sports Day Outstanding Female Athlete her
senior year. Along with her success in the classroom, Casper is a
three year member of National Honor Society, Yearbook Editor, and an
Academic Letter Winner all four years of her high school career.
She was also named in the Who's Who Among American High School Students
in her sophomore, junior, and senior years.
Chantelle is the daughter of Kathy and Todd Casper and will
major in elementary education at Dakota State.
Erica Gall a
5'10" outside hitter from Lake Andes, South Dakota is the next addition
to the
Trojan Volleyball team. Erica was a two sport athlete at Lake
Andes starting for both the volleyball and basketball teams. "Erica is a
player we are really excited about. She has a great attitude and work
ethic and will be a very good addition to our volleyball program," said
Coach Henning. "Erica has a lot of versatility so we are looking at her
in a variety of positions," Coach Henning added. Erica is a business
major.
Amanda Schoenfelder from Mt. Vernon, SD will join the Trojan Volleyball
team next year. Amanda was a three sport athlete for the Fillies
competing in volleyball, basketball, and track. "Amanda will help bring
more depth to our libero and setter positions," said Coach Henning. "She
is from a very strong high school program, and we are excited to have
her continuing her career at Dakota State." Amanda is the daughter of
Bonita and Joe Schoenfelder and will major in forensic science and/or
graphic arts.
Sarah Steffl from Worthington, Minnesota is the newest addition to the
Trojan Volleyball
Program. Sarah competed in both volleyball and
softball during her prep career. "Sarah, is a very skilled libero, and
she is a good addition to our volleyball program. She has played club
volleyball as well as high school volleyball and we look for her to
continue developing into a strong defensive player for our program,"
Coach Henning said. Sarah is a respiratory therapist major and the
daughter of Kathy and Mike Steffl.
