Trojan Volleyball broke many records in last night's four game win over
Great Plains Athletic Conference foe Mount Marty (30-18, 27-30, 30-24,
30-28) at the DSU Memorial Field House. The Trojan Volleyball
swept the season series with Mount Marty with a 3-0 win early in the
season in Yankton, SD.
Stacy Dunklau, a
senior right side from Arlington, NE, recorded 26 kills and had a
killing efficiency of .489. Dunklau's 26 kills tied for 2nd in
Trojan volleyball record book for most kills in a match. In 86
games she played this year, she has 336 kills for the season with 4.00
kills per game and a killing efficiency of .297. Dunklau also
recorded 6 blocks in the match, tying her for 5th in Trojan Volleyball
record book. Dunklau is the daughter of Randy and Susan Dunklau
and majoring in Exercise Science.
Sandy Smith,
senior outside hitter/middle hitter recorded four blocks in the match
raising her career blocks to 275.5 blocks, which is 4th in Trojan
Volleyball history for career blocks. WIth the Smith/Dunklau
combination, the senior duo amassed 41 of 67 team kills, a killing
efficiency of .457 for the match, and a total of 10 of 17 team blocks
for the match. Smith is the daughter of Larry and Lanelle Smith
and majoring in Business at Dakota State.
Stephanie Nygaard,
a sophomore libero from Milbank, SD, had 33 digs in the match which tied
her for 9th in the Trojan Volleyball record book for most digs in a
match. She currently leads the team in defense with 5.39 digs per
game with a total of 361 digs in 67 games she played. Nygaard is
the daughter of Cal and Barb Nygaard and majoring in Special Education
and Elementary Education.
The team also
recorded 67 kills, tied for 10th in Trojan Volleyball Record Book, and
17 blocks in a the match, which is tied for 6th in the record book.
The Trojans (9-16)
concludes their DAC Conference season as they play Valley City State
Friday night in Valley City, ND at 7:00 pm and Mayville State Saturday
afternoon in Mayville, ND at 3:00 pm.
