Trojan women lose in Jamestown

(Madison, SD) – Dakota State University opened its Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) volleyball season with a 3-0 loss to Jamestown College in Jamestown. The Trojans saw their
overall season mark dip to 4-4 with the defeat.

Jamestown posted a decisive 30-16 first-game win and followed with 30-24 and 30-22 second- and third-game wins.

Stacy Dunklau, Sandy Smith and Rachel Jensen powered DSU at the net with respective 14-, 7- and 6-kill nights.

DSU got team-leading performances by Katie Bassett and Steph Nygaard.  Bassett had 31 assists and Nygaard 19 digs.

Jamestown, which saw its overall mark rise to 9-2, got 37 assists and three ace serves by Kristi Senftner, 13 kills by Ali Edwards, three blocks from Carli Purath and 21 digs from Shantell Rigsby.

DSU doesn't return to the courts until Sept. 15, when it hosts Dickinson State at the DSU Field House.
