(Madison, SD) Make it 6 - 0 for the
Trojans as they held off a very tough and very talented
Alumni team on Saturday in the
Field House. Playing for the Alumni were Jessica Wipf, Laura
Vesely, Jill Weisser, Micah Tolzin, Ashley Brassfield, Cami Martin,
and Katie Lanoue.
Game one saw
the Alumni pull ahead early and the young
Trojans faltered with their serve receive; they did make a bit of a
rally but fell short 29 - 31.
Game two saw
the Trojans get in sync and start to make some connections on the
hitting end; they won game two 30 - 24 to tie up the match.
Game three
saw the Trojans continue to build up some steam and there were
several great, long rallies that, unfortunately, were won by the
Alumni. The Trojans didn't lose focus and were able to win game
three 30 - 18.
Game four
would be the deciding game with the Trojans building up an early
lead but the Alumni battled back and took game four by the score of
21 - 30.
Game five
would prove to be a seesaw battle between the Alumni and Trojans.
The Alumni pulled ahead early and looked to have a lock on the
match, but the Trojans battled back and chipped away at the Alumni
lead and tied the score at 12 - 12 and pulled ahead for the win at
15 - 12.

Thanks for everyone that came and saw the match and supported
the Trojans and the Alumni. Hope to see more Alumni
next year! The Trojans of 2006 look young on paper and made great
strides in the off season and during our spring ball season. We are
anxiously awaiting for fall to arrive so we can begin another
exciting year of Trojan Volleyball.
