Stephanie Nygaard |
(Madison, SD) –
The Dakota Athletic Conference Volleyball has announced Dakota
State’s Stephanie Nygaard as DAC Libero of the Week (October
2nd-8th).
Nygaard, a sophomore from Milbank,
SD, recorded 70 digs (5.38 digs per game) and six service aces (0.46
service aces per game) as the Trojans split four matches for the week.
She recorded 30 digs in a 3-1 loss to DAC Conference foe Jamestown last
Wednesday, which puts Nygaard 12th in the Trojan Volleyball Record book
for most digs in a match. "Steph is becoming more aggressive on the
court," said Trojan Volleyball Head Coach Cynthia
Henning, "and that aggressiveness tendency is showing up in the number
of digs she is getting per game." In DAC rankings, Nygaard is currently
4th in digs per game (5.14), 10th in DAC for serving percentage (.946),
and 17th for service aces per game (0.34). "Steph has really done a
phenomenal job for us,"
quoted Henning, "she has begun to really step into the role of
being our defensive leader, and that is what we want and expect from our
libero."
Nygaard is the daughter of Cal & Barb
Nygaard, and she is majoring in Special Education/Elementary Education.
