Kaufmann is a 5'8" outside hitter from Arlington, SD. She had a
very
strong high school career and Coach Cynthia Henning expects her
to continue with that success while at Dakota State. “Amanda has
great skills on the volleyball court. She moves very well and has
a
variety of shots to put the ball away,” Henning said. “She has
been a
leader for Arlington’s team and we expect her to be a leader here
at Dakota State,” Henning added. Kaufmann was a three year starter for
the Cardinals and is a two time all conference selection and was
selected as her team’s best hitter and best player both her junior and
senior years. Kaufmann was selected for the 2004 Brookings All Register
volleyball team. Kaufman is also slated as an alternate for the All-Star
Games in Aberdeen this July. Kaufmann is the daughter of Lynne and Gary
Kaufmann and is undecided on her major.

Lanoue
is a 5’6” outside/rightside hitter from Tracy, Minnesota. She
has been a captain of her high school volleyball team for the past
two seasons and she helped lead the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton squad
to the 2004 Minnesota State Volleyball Championship. She is a
three
year letter winner for Tracy-Milroy-Balaton and along with her
athletic accomplishments she is a member of National Honor
Society and an Academic Letter winner. “Laura
is a great addition
to our squad. She moves very well and does a great job with her
defensive positioning and her passing. She is also a great talker on the
court which is very, very important to us.” In high school she faced
many blockers that were taller than her but she was an effective hitter
for Tracy-Milroy-Balaton because of her smarts. She would hit around or
through split blocks. Lanoue is the daughter of Karen and Greg Lanoue
and she plans to major in accounting at Dakota State.

Nygaard is a 5’5 setter/libero from Milbank, South Dakota.
Nygaard
was a team captain and also holds the
record at Milbank High School
for assists and serves. Nygaard helped lead the Milbank
volleyball
team to the 2004 South Dakota Class A Volleyball Championship.
She also competes in basketball and track for Milbank. “Stephanie
has many roles we’ll be looking at her for at Dakota State; she
will be
competing for our setting job as well as she’ll get time at the
libero
position. Stephanie is very quick to the ball and moves very well
on the court. Both of those traits are huge assets for both setters and
liberos. We are very exciting about Stephanie coming to Dakota State,”
said Coach Henning. Nygaard is the daughter of Barb and Cal Nygaard and
plans to major in elementary education at Dakota State.

Ripley
is a 5’10” outside hitter from Cannon Falls, MN. Ripley also played
softball and was an all area second team and all conference honorable
mention during her senior campaign. She lettered three years in
volleyball and four years in softball during her high school career.
“Erin is a big, strong kid that will give us some additional height in
the outside hitting and blocking area. She has a good arms
wing and will be a definite asset for our squad,” said Coach
Henning. Ripley is the daughter of Elizabeth and Darin Ripley and will
major in exercise science.

Wiesen
is a 5’10” middle hitter from Hendricks, MN. She was voted
the most improved volleyball player her junior year and was selected
as the Gatorade Will to Win Athlete her senior year. She also is on
the A Honor Roll at Canby High School. “Brittany is a good addition
to our team. She is a hard worker and really loves the sport of
volleyball. I’m really looking forward to working with her at Dakota
State and seeing her really develop into her potential,” said Coach
Henning. Erin is the daughter of Paulette and James Wiesen, and
she will major in elementary education at Dakota State.

Tanya Moller, a
5'6" libero from Beresford, SD has signed to play volleyball
for the Trojans next fall head coach
Cynthia Henning announced today.
"Tanya has a tenacious defensive
attitude and we are very excited that she
has chosen to take that next step and
continue her playing career here at
Dakota State."
Moller, a two year starter for Beresford, helped the Watchdogs
qualify for the
2004 South Dakota State Volleyball
Tournament where they finished fifth.
She was a member of the 2003 squad that
won the state championship. In
2004 Moller received the Watchdogs
award for best serve receive percentage.
"Tanya
is a very exciting player to watch and has a 100% go after the ball
attitude. That is the type of attitude we look for and want in our
liberos, and Tanya has displayed that attitude already on the high
school court; we expect her to continue and develop that attitude even
further here at Dakota State." Along with her defensive responsibilities
for the Watchdogs, Moller was one of the designated passers for her high
school team. That is another responsibility that the Trojans are
expecting her to continue.
Moller
is the daughter of Kathy and Randy Moller and is a marketing major.

Katie
Bassett is a 5'6" setter from Omaha, Nebraska.
Bassett played volleyball at Skutt
Catholic High School. She has a great work ethic and is a very strong
student. "We are very excited to have Katie coming to Dakota
State," said head coach Cynthia Henning. "Katie has a very
strong foundation of skills and is a great addition to our volleyball
program." During
Katie's high school career she spent a great deal of time and energy
making herself a better volleyball player attending various camps
throughout the area. "Her work ethic is one of the things we liked
best about Katie," Henning added, "and we think she will have
a very good collegiate career at Dakota State." Katie is an
elementary education major and the daughter of Matt and Mary Jo Bassett.

Justine
Novotny is a 5'10" middle/outside hitter from DeSmet, South
Dakota. Suring her high school campaign, Novotny was a two-year captain,
Central All Conference Honorable Mention, and Lake Central and Dakota
Valley All Conference Team. Her senior year she led her team to the
district championship match. Along with her athletic achievements,
Justine was a member of National Honor Society, Academic All State, and
a Girls State Alternate. Novotny is a respiratory care major and is the
daughter of Paul and Susan Novotny.

Vicki
Kaul is a 5'10" middle hitter from Springfield, South Dakota.
Kaul played at Bon Homme
High School in Tyndall. Kaul was LMVC All Conference selection and lead
her team in kills and blocks. "Vicki has a lot of potential that we
are really excited about," said Coach Henning, "she played
middle in high school and we will, undoubtedly, look at her in a variety
of positions. Her versatility is a definite asset for our program."
Along with her athletic pursuits Kaul is on Bon Homme's A Honor Roll, a
member of National Honor Society, and has been a recipient of an
academic letter all four years of high school. Kaul is a computer
graphics major and is the daughter of Vern and Donna Kaul.

Katie
Letsche is a 5'2" setter from Lennox, South Dakota. She is a
Big 8 All Conference Honorable Mention, 2nd Team All Region selection,
and won the Most Inspirational Player award. She is also a member of the
National Honor Society and an Academic All State Selection. According to
Coach Henning, "Katie
is a good addition to our volleyball program and we are glad that she
has chosen to compete for Dakota State." Katie is an
elementary/special education major and the daughter of Troy and Bonnie
Letsche.
