"We played a good match
last night," said DSU Coach Cynthia Henning. "Morris is a fairly scrappy
team, and we did a good job maintaining control of each game. This match
was a good preparatory match for us and our weekend matches against Minot
and Dickinson State."
Amanda Vos-Keizer, Jill
Weisser, Ashley Brassfield, Cami Martin and Stacy Dunklau sparked the
Trojans to their 14th win of the season against just six setbacks.
Vos-Keizer garnered 14 kills and added 14 digs on defense, while Jill
Weisser produced 35 assists and had two ace serves. Martin also had two
ace serves, in addition to her 12 digs, eight kills and a solo block.
Brassfield, DSU's defensive specialist, had a team-leading 25 digs in the
match.
Dunklau had two solo blocks and was in on three others to lead DSU, which
also got three double blocks by Sandy Smith.
UMM (9-11) got nine kills by Amy Lipetsky, 23 assists by Chelsea Anttila
and 24 digs by Ann Mielke.
The Lady Cougars got six kills by Sarah Nelson, 15 digs by Jenna Maki,
along with 11 more by Anttila. Lipetsky also had six solo blocks.
DSU returns to DAC-10 volleyball Friday and Saturday, hosting Minot State
University Friday and Dickinson State Saturday. Friday's match begins at 7
p.m. and Saturday's face-off starts at 3 p.m.
