It marked the Trojans' second straight win over DWU, having beaten the Lady Tigers 3-1 Aug. 24 in the USF Invitational at Sioux Falls.

"Last night was a good match for us," Dakota State Coach Cynthia Henning said Tuesday morning. "We have some areas that we still need to focus on, obviously, but with each match we are showing more communication and a total team effort."

The Trojans got effective play from leaders Amanda Vos-Keizer, Jill Weisser, Micah Tolzin and Ashley Brassfield.

Tolzin came through with 12 kills, while Vos-Keizer had 11 and Stacy Dunklau nine. Tolzin also led the team in serving up four aces.

Weisser had 34 assists and Brassfield led the team on defense, registering 20 digs. Cami Martin had 17 digs.

Dakota Wesleyan got seven kills apiece from Kayce McCutcheon and Jessica Callies.

Molly Culhane added 23 assists, while Beth Kopfmann, Callies, Mercedes Felix and Becki Nelson each had two service aces.

Felix also had nine digs for the 1-4 Lady Tigers.

DSU travels to Peru, Neb., to play in the Peru State College Invitational Friday and Saturday.

"This should be a good tournament," said Henning. "We haven't faced any of the teams that we usually play, so it will be a good experience for us, and good exposure for us outside our region and conference."

The Trojans begin play Friday, taking on William Penn. On Saturday, DSU plays Southern Nazarene and then host-school Peru State.
