(Madison, SD) - Dakota State University's volleyball team didn't
win a game against the University of Sioux Falls Wednesday in
Madison.
USF's Lady Cougars earned a 26-24 third-game win to nail down a
3-0 match victory at the DSU Field House.
USF won the first two games 25-21 and 25-20.
It was the first match for USF this season, while the Trojans,
playing in their third match, saw their mark dip to 1-2.
The Trojans will have to play USF again on Sept. 5 in the Lady
Cougars' tournament at the Stewart Center in Sioux Falls.
DSU also will play Mt. Marty College, who beat the Trojans in
Yankton.
In Wednesday's match against USF, DSU was led on the attack by
Rachael Jensen, who had 10 kills. Also at the net, Margie
Anthony provided the Trojans with two blocked shots.
DSU's second-row play was led by Stephanie Kruggel and Melissa
Boddy, who had respective 14 and 12 set assists.
Defensively, the Trojans were powered by libero player Laura
Lanoue, who had 22 digs. DSU also got 10 digs apiece from
Amy Pheneger and Jensen.
The Trojans' leading receiver were Lanoue, who had 34 serve
receptions, and Jensen, who had 14.
As a team, DSU had a 90-percent serves' rating.
The Lady Cougars' top attackers included Teri Smith, who
produced nine k ills, and Haylee Spronk, who had eight.
Tessa Prochaska had 20 assists, and Jamie Coffman and Rachel
Heeney each had 11 digs on defense. Amber Sneller had 15
serve receptions, Coffman 13 and Michelle Moller 11.
