Prorok
Head
Softball Coach
Prorok, a native
of Lincoln, Nebraska, enters his
second year as the Head Softball
coach for the Trojans.
Prorok has been with the softball program for three years and has
helped guide them to two consecutive 20 win seasons. With Prorok at
the helm the Trojans were regionally ranked for six consecutive
weeks last season. He has been with the university's athletic
department for seven years, from 2001-2005
he served as the Associate Head Baseball Coach
for the Trojans, where he helped guide them to three straight
regional appearances and two
super regional
appearances. During his tenure with the baseball
team, the Trojans were ranked nationally
three times and had an amazing 23 All-Conference
selections and 5 players receive All-American recognition.
Prorok began his
coaching career at Columbus High School in Columbus, NE, coaching
women's fast pitch. He had 11 of his athletes go on to
participate in college athletics and posted an impressive .800
winning percentage while at CHS.
Prior to his
arrival in Madison in 2001, Prorok
has played
competitive fast pitch for 13 years. His teams
have
qualified for 11 State Tournaments (1991-1999,
2006, 2007), three A.S.A. Regional Tournaments (1995, 1997,
1998, and 2006), and
three N.A.F.A.
World Series events (1996,1998 and 2006). Prorok was also selected to two
Metro All-Star teams in 1997 and 1998 when he hit .457 and .449
respectively.
In addition to his softball duties, Prorok
also serves as an
instructor in the college of education.
Prorok resides just outside of Madison with his wife Renee and their
three children Brooke, Taylor, and their son J.D.

Brad Hesser
Assistant
Softball Coach
Hesser,
a native of Toledo, Ohio, attended The Savannah College of Art and
Design in Savannah, Georgia where he received his BFA in Graphic
Design in 2000 and his MFA in Media and Performing Arts in 2003. Hesser
has spent the past four seasons
working with the Dakota State University
softball team in a variety of roles, he brings with him a solid
understanding of the conference and what it takes to win.
Prior
to coming to Dakota State, Hesser was the Head JV Softball Coach at
Clay High School in Oregon, Ohio in 2003 and the Assistant Softball
Coach at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) from
1999 until 2002. While at SCAD, the softball team was ranked
in the top 25 in the NCAA Division III national rankings and made
two trips to the NCAA Regional Tournament.
Prior
to coaching, Hesser was a four year starter at Third Base for the
SCAD baseball team playing under Luis Tiant. In 1996, during
his Sophomore year, he was selected to the All-South Region team.
That season he finished with a .435 Avg, 8 HR and only 2Ks in
125ABs. Following his
college career, Hesser went to Spring Training with the San Angelo
Colts of the Texas-Louisiana League before returning to SCAD to
finish his MFA.
In
addition to his coaching duties, Hesser teaches Computer Graphics in
Dakota State’s College of Arts and Sciences.
Hesser is engaged and set to get married this upcoming February.
