Trojans Complete Fall

Madison, SD (10/18/06)
–
This fall the focus for the Trojans was to
improve upon the direction that the 2006 team
had taken the program. “Last season we did a
tremendous job of getting things headed in the
right direction and earning the respect of other
college coaches in our conference and our
region.” stated head coach Ken Prorok.
The Trojans wrapped up their
fall season with a convincing 6-1 victory over
the Alumni in the annual Alumni game.
In the game the Trojans scored
6 runs off of 10 hits while stranding 9 on
base. The Trojans maintained the
aggressiveness on the bases that they
were known for during the 2006 season stealing
5 bases on the day.
The pitching staff consisting of Senior
Steph Brakel, Junior Sara Gibson and Freshman
Dakota Novotny combined to allow just one run on
4 hits, while striking out 11.
Upon completion of the fall season the
team then evaluates themselves as well as each
other. The areas of evaluation include coach
ability, athletic ability, work ethic and also
has the players rank each other at their
respective positions and gives the team a chance
to write the line-up for the first game of the
season.
“For us the evaluation process is huge.
It is a time for our players to truly gauge
themselves against one another and see what the
team thinks of their individual efforts. Once
the evaluations are complete the coaching staff
has individual meetings with each player and
recaps their fall and places new expectations on
the player themselves.” added coach Prorok.
