Trojans Complete 100
Innings
Madison, SD (9/24/06)
– The Dakota State University softball team
completed its annual 100 inning Marathon on
Sunday under a combination of blue skies and
lights. The day began at 8:00 a.m. with the
Trojans going through a variety of simulated
innings, and completed with an intra-squad
scrimmage.
During the Marathon the Trojans hit
.328 had 221 total hits and scored 113 runs,
hitting against a variety of guest pitchers. On
the day the Trojan pitching staff logged 45 full
innings (270 outs) giving up just 22 runs while
striking out 115 batters and accumulated a 2.19
ERA.
“We saw some very good things today.
I was worried that the day would take its toll
on us, but we hung tough and worked harder as
the day went on. Offensively we had a tremendous
day hitting and really got things done on the
bases. Our pitching staff was very impressive
with the exception of about three innings where
our pitchers started to get tired and the
hitters truly started to get some timing down.”
Stated Head Coach Ken Prorok.
The Trojans would like to thank
their faithful fans who helped make the day a
tremendous success.
